  1. Your Smartcat profile contains a nifty little feature called “payment link” (short video). It allows you to get payments via Smartcat from anywhere in the world, even the client is not on Smartcat yet. When a non-registered user clicks it, they are offered to sign up with Smartcat, and then they get to the window where they can enter the amount and pay to you right away. This is handy in itself, but an additional point here is that the link is already tied to the referral program. So whoever joins Smartcat using your payment link will be treated as your invitee, with all the benefits that follow. Enjoy! Pro tip: Use https://goo.gl/ to shorten your link.

  8. For LSPs SDL’s ex-EVP launches a new LSP and chooses Smartcat For those who didn’t know, SDL are the guys who make Trados. So when their ex-EVP chooses a Cloud solution, despite SDL’s ongoing propaganda against Cloud solutions, this does tell something. Share this article if your invitee hesitates because “but it’s Cloud” and “hey, everyone does it in Trados”. Here’s a quote, underlining what we already know about why Smartcat is the best choice: For end customers Weebly case study Weebly is a platform that lets people create beautiful websites without any programming skills. They went global with the help of Smartcat. Their quote underlines the following strengths: Tight support, Marketplace, of course, and API for localization automation. Share this article with clients who might want to have their website localized to more languages than it is now. Here’s the quote: For freelancers: You tell us! No, really. We could write tons of articles about why using Smartcat is beneficial for freelancers. But no one will be able to explain this better than yourself. And we’d love to hear, too! View full article

  10. As you can read from the description of the referral program, you can only earn on inviting paying customers — not your translator colleagues. To balance out this inequality, we are test-running the following offering: You will get $10 for each invited freelancer who translates more than 10,000 words in one month from the invitation date. The offer is time- and volume-limited: It will only apply to freelancers invited within one month from now (i.e., until September 10, 2017). It will only apply to the first 50 freelancers who achieve the goal. If and when we see that the offering works well, we might prolong the offering. No promises though

  12. We’ve learned from the previous version of our referral program that one of the major challenges for inviters was overcoming the psychological barrier. Some of you felt it would be “salesy” of them to approach customers directly, asking them to join Smartcat using a referral link. That’s why we’ve introduced an easier way to do this. Now you can just fill in an invitation form, and we will create an email that will look like this: We will then send it ourselves from a Smartcat email. Thus, the invitation will look like similar invitations that sometimes come from LinkedIn, Facebook, and all other kinds of websites. Although directly linking to your profile and Wave link, they don’t give an impression of your trying to pitch something. Of course, this method works the best when you are inviting someone who you actually actually know. Sounds like you? Invite someone! Note: We will be sending out the invitations once every week, presumably on Tuesday, to increase conversion.

  14. Hey guys, we have just released a blog article describing the case of Weebly, a massively (is it too many "massives" for one thread?) successful website that found a shortcut across the globe with the help of Smartcat. Sharing it with your clients will give them a living example of how they can do the same — and they can start really small if they don’t have the resources to go global all-in. So take a note!
  15. Hi, there, surfers! I've been told I am the record holder on how many people have signed up for smartCAT through my Wave link, so I will tell you what I did and how, so we can all get the best out of this program. I am a translator, I taught translation for a bit at a private university and I am also very active in specialist groups for translators and interpreters in FB, mainly. I "designed" a spread program to get people to use my link and this is how I did that: I posted the link the first time advertising the amazing CAT capabilities of smartCAT, the fact you can upload your own work, create a profile, use TMs, etc. and I told everyone that signing up was free and that's the post that, I think, got most of the people that actually signed up. In the second post, which I posted yesterday in the same groups, I highlighted the forums, the community, the fact you can get paid through smartCAT and that you can even get clients, either your own or international ones, using the environment. My third post, which will appear in mid July, will highlight the Senior's program, all the benefits we get from being Seniors, the sense of community a peer-review brings, etc. In my fourth, and last one, I will talk about the webinars, the constant online support we get from Vova and the team and, again, the sense of community we get from being part of smartCAT. Every post will add the "free" idea, since that seems to be quite interesting for most of us, freelancers with no fixed income. So, as you see, what I did was taking advantage of my social media contacts, knowing the advantages of smartCAT and finding out exactly what the best (and most attractive) features are, so I can just advertise the truth, no tricks. Finally, I have to say that every post says that if they have questions, doubts or general enquiries about it, that they could contact me through the messenger or by mail, and some did and it was great to get the environment the spotlight it deserves. That's what I've done so far and what I plan to do and maybe you can do something similar and get the best out of your wave. Hugs! Paz S.
